This improvisation was developed for a showcase at Mascher Space Cooperative, where Miryam was a resident artist. After our first “Art Date,” our continued process together became a meditation on our personal connection, which fuses together a common language in movement processes with the feeling that we’ve known each other for lifetimes. In the studio, we played with many elements, brought each other texts and images, and had conversations about the nature of soul-friendships. We allowed each improvisational sketch to emerge, and identified aspects to investigate further, eventually using post-its to name qualities or movement sequences. The end result is an improvised composite of moments, in which the sequence weaves together in the performance event, intuited between us. We never new what order they would come up, or what overarching story would be told through the order.
